Kett Hall

I joined Wymondham College in January 2022 moving from Reading with my family (my wife Sara who works at the Prep School and my 2 daughters who both attend local schools). Having spent the previous seven years as Housemaster and Director of Boarding at Leighton Park School and prior to that as a Head of Faculty and Department and Assistant Housemaster at Stowe School in Buckingham, I have over 20 years’ experience in different boarding schools.

I am delighted to work closely with Miss Hill (History) in the role of Deputy Head of House and, from September 2022, Mr Jones (PE) as Assistant Head of House. Both of these bring huge experience of boarding at Wymondham College and are familiar faces to many of the students already. With a variety of interests between us, there’s always something fun going on for our students!

Our Matron and Graduate Boarding Assistants also contribute to the strong family ethos within the house, where students are encouraged to look out for each other – both horizontally and vertically. The collegiate nature of Kett students make it a special place to live and work. We aim to instil positive values in all of our students – trust, respect, honesty, integrity, kindness and truth are all important for our students to work towards. I ask nothing more than being the best version of yourself that you can be!

Kett students are proud of some lasting traditions and nuances – evening meals are taken in the Refectory sat as rotating ‘boarding families’ where each student will have an opportunity to get to know others in the house from different year groups at a family table and hand bells are rung in the morning to rouse our boarders ready for breakfast!. It’s these small but important traditions that make us a little different, Our students enjoy participating in house competitions and Wymondham Life activities in the evenings, as well as making use of our own outdoor spaces as we are tucked away in the top corner of the College campus. We are blessed with our own field space for rugby and football as well as basketball and volleyball in the summer.

I enjoy all sports, both participating, watching and coaching (rugby, hockey and cricket are my sports of choice) as well as skiing and travelling internationally, having led expeditions to Peru, Borneo, India, Tanzania and Morocco. During the day, you’ll find me in the Design & Technology Department, a subject which I am passionate about and one which I thoroughly enjoy teaching.
