Priority Places & Scholarships

Year 7 Music Priority Places

The College is proud to offer up to sixteen places for students applying for Year 7 day and boarding places who demonstrate a particular aptitude in music. These places are allocated on the basis of performance in assessments of musical aptitude conducted by the College. Eight of these places are available to boarders and eight to Day students. These places are not scholarships and there is no reduction in the boarding fee where these places are given to boarders.

To apply for one of these places, parents must apply for their son/daughter to take the assessment using a Supplementary Admissions Form (link to register here) which must be returned to the College by 31 October 2025.

There are two opportunities to take the assessment:

- Friday, 26 September - Assessment Day 1

- Friday, 21 November - Assessment Day 2

For further guidance on the Year 7 Music Priority Places, please read document below:

Year 7 Music Priority Place Guidance

Those who apply in time to be included in the first assessment date will receive notification of whether they have met the required standard before the national closing date for Year 7 Admissions. Those who apply too late to take the first or who are unable to attend the first assessment date can attend the second assessment date. Both assessments provide the same opportunity to gain a place at the College and so there is no advantage to be gained from attending one assessment rather than the other.

It should be noted that no candidate may attend the assessment more than once, although a candidate who is scheduled to participate in the first assessment and is unable to do so, for example due to ill health, is able to attend for the second assessment date, provided that they do not embark upon any aspect of the assessment on the first occasion. It should be noted that meeting the required standard in the assessment does not guarantee a place at the College. This is because more candidates may meet the required standard than there are places available. If this is the case, places are allocated according to the oversubscription criteria detailed in our current Admissions Policy, and subsequently according to proximity.

Please note - These priority places are only available in Year 7.
