Wymondham College is proud to have been asked to act as Lead Sponsor for the Thetford Academy Project.
The proposed academy will provide over 2000 places for students in Thetford and the surrounding area and will form the centrepiece for the regeneration of the town. The College was identified as potential Lead Sponsor on the basis of its record of excellence and strong leadership, management and governance.
Along with co-sponsors, Easton College, West Suffolk College and Norfolk County Council, the College will form a charity (the Thetford Learning Trust) to run the Academy as soon as the project is given the final go ahead by College governors and the Department for Children Schools and Families.
Academies are independent schools working entirely within the state sector on a not-for-profit basis. All the College’s costs in supporting this project are being met by grants from central government.
