32 players started in the doubles competition and 22 students in the singles. Competitors losing in the first round qualified for a 'plate' competition whilst the winners progressed to the second round of the cup. Like its major tournament the competition was blessed with good weather and excellent tennis. We even had our 'Henman Hill' or ' Murray mound', with students flocking from the tuck shop ice pops in hand ready to watch an afternoon of tennis. The singles final in the 'plate' competition was an all year 7 event. William Dodds defeating Matthew Long 5-1. William then went on with his partner Sam Thatcher to defeat Jermaine Ankrah and Nathan Mays 5-0 in the doubles 'plate' final. The final of the 'cup' competition was a family affair. George Pooley defeating his younger brother Archie 5-3. The doubles 'cup' favourites Charlie Horne and Emily Anthony defeated Amy Partridge and Grace MacKintosh 5-3 in the final. Well done to all players who took part during the 2 weeks of play.
