Rugby Dinner

Raising funds for the summer tour to South Africa

The PE department are hosting a black tie/ evening dress Rugby Dinner event on Wednesday 4th April, 7pm -12pm.  Our guest speakers will be Leicester Tigers players Tom Croft and Geordan Murphy. There will be a complimentary drink on arrival, a 3 course meal, 2 bottles of red, 2 bottles of white and 2 bottles of water on each table. Cheese and biscuits will also be available at the end of the meal. Tickets are available at £50.

We would prefer that full tables of 10 or 12 are booked, or half tables of 6. We are in no doubt that this will be a superb evening and likely to be extremely popular. Profits from the evening will go towards the tour and a South African charity ‘Goedgedacht’.

One of the issues this charity has is getting transport for school children to get to the 'farm'  their school. They used to be picked up by a bakkie – a light delivery vehicle – or pickup truck – but the government suddenly decided that this mode cannot be used any longer for safety reasons. The farm was given 4 weeks’ notice to buy a large bus. They have managed to raise R25,000 of the R840,000 needed to purchase a 60 seater bus, so any help in that direction would be really very much appreciated. You can view the charity at

Students and staff are also holding a sponsored 24 hour row/cycle on Friday 9th March /Saturday 10th March to raise funds for the trip and the charity.  If you would like to attend the dinner or sponsor the event Tickets are available from Mr C A Jones (Director of Sport).
