Inflatable Planetarium

Boarders from all houses enjoyed a night under the stars in an inflatable planetarium.

They learned how to recognise some of the prominent constellations in the northern and southern skies, distances of various stars, how the motions of the stars change from differing places on Earth, how early astronomers discovered the planets and why the Milky Way looks so much better from the Southern Hemisphere.

As well as this, students also enjoyed a light show to music by The Chemical Brothers, Dreadzone and Air!
We borrowed the inflatable planetarium from the East of England Science Learning Centre. Contact Mr Colman at the College for more information or click the link on the right. and search under Resources and Kit Club.

The photo shows eager Kett boarders with their pillows just before their evening in the planetarium.
