Indonesian Gamelan

Local Primary Pupils learn to play the Gamelan at Wymondham College!

As part of our Language College outreach programme and application for the International Schools Award, the music department is hosting Norfolk's very own Gamelan from the island of Java 'The Venerable Enchanter'. The Gamelan is a handmade percussion orchestra which provides a unique musical experience and an insight into music from other cultures.

In the summer term, we welcomed pupils from Morley Primary, Spooner Row Primary, Wicklewood Primary and Eaton Hall School. Pupils were able to play all the instruments in the orchestra with the gong ageng and the gong suwaken being the most popular (and the loudest!).
