A congregation of over 800 Students, Staff, Parents and Friends of Wymondham College came together in a wonderful Service of Thanksgiving held at Norwich Cathedral to mark the 60th Anniversary of the founding of Wymondham College.
The Service was led by the The Right Reverend Graham James, Lord Bishop of Norwich, lessons were read by the Principal and also by former Collge student Mr Norman Lamb MP.
The College Choir and 60th Anniversary Orchestra, made up of current and former pupils, gave magnificent performances which were enjoyed by all.
In his address after the service, Norman Lamb spoke warmly of his time at the College and mentioned that he had been particularly pleased to meet up with his former Principal Mr Ronald Wolsey.
A celebration cake was jointly cut by Lady Enid Ralphs, wife of the founder of the College Dr Lincoln Ralphs, Mrs Joan Sperring, the College’s first Headmistress, Mr Ronald Wolsey, the College’s second Principal and the current Principal Mr Melvyn Roffe.
Addressing to the guests after the service the Principal, Mr Roffe spoke about the unique history of the College and the inspiration of it’s founders. Mr Roffe also looked to the future by launching the Diamond Jubilee Appeal which aims to raise money for special projects and a bursary fund.
