Fry tries to sprint and dance the virtual distance from the College to Somalia, 3000 miles.
Maintaining the tradition of raising money for good causes by achieving fantastic athletic feats, Fry house rose to the challenge once again this year, aiming to sprint and dance the virtual distance from the College to Somalia, 3000 miles. The event was all about raising money for children in Somalia who have very little. £20 will sponsor a child for a month. So read on to find out how they did it.

Mood in the Camp: Positive
So, the week got off to a very pleasing start with good numbers attending the first run.
FRY HALL: Year 9 were our most productive year on Day 1 with Oscar G, Henry Crawley, Harry Rotella, Josh Salt, Ben Hughes, Kieran Gonzalez, Melanie McAllister and Catherine Pennington all completing quarter marathons.
KETT HALL: Our youngest runner, Rafa Casanova, completed his first half mile, a key moment in the young sportsman's life. Ed Roffe, Tommy Wilson, Alfie Bowels and Rob Freedman can also be thoroughly proud of their quarter marathons completed.
CAVELL HALL: Super efforts from Charles Leather, Oliver Ross and Ben Campbell (13 laps each). Cavell pupils collectively ran over 80 miles, more so than any other supporting house - thank you.
PEEL HALL: Super efforts from Finn Lambert and Joseph Leishman (11 laps) and also Albi Lambert (8 laps).
NEW HALL: Our overall leader after Day 1 comes from New Hall. Ollie Cooke notched up an impressive eight miles in just over seventy minutes, but can he keep up the momentum!? Big rounds of applause must also be offered to Mr Walsh (15 laps) and Mr Greenwell (11 laps).

Miles completed: 2144
Miles left: 856
Mood in Camp: Euphoric
Wow. At the end of Day 1 we had completed just over 800 miles, which means today a massive 1300 miles have been sprinted and spun. Thank you to the 200 runners and dancers who joined us after school and the hundred or so boarders who demonstrated athleticism after prep this evening. A truly impressive Wymondham College effort!
FRY HALL: Year 10 ladies are leading the pack, with super efforts from Jade Bennett, Eleanor Anderson, Anna Symington and Julia Vermont. Also on target for full marathons are Amanda Campbell white, Libby Burton, Melanie McAllister and Catherine Pennington. Impressive performances are also being recorded by Year 8 girls, notably Giorgia Tevola, Esme Rotella, Rosie Pollock, Harriet Picksley, Georgina Holmes and Sophie Campbell White.
KETT HALL: Leading ladies are Ruby S and Georgie Watson.
NEW HALL: Polly Mountford is charging forward.
CAVELL HALL: Congratulations go to Charlotte Hutton in who is perhaps the leading female runner across all houses.
PEEL HALL: have also quadrupled their efforts today - a super effort.

Mood in Camp: Buoyant
Day 3 at Wimbledon and Day 3 of Fit Week both fell foul of the unpredictable British weather. Whilst the Fry / Cavell field is without a folding concertina retractable roof, Wymondham College does have an abundance of grit, determination and resolve. And thus, with rain still falling, dozens took to the track to help us surge closer to Somalia. Indeed, Fit week stalwarts Phaup and Chitty dusted off their running shoes and many of our pupils completed their marathon efforts on Day 3. 500 miles were added to the tally (many of which were danced in the prep room) on a day where many of us initially thought no progress would be made at all.
Thursday
Miles completed: 3300
Somalia Reached? Yes. And then some.
Mood in Camp: Delighted
At 4.46pm Anna Symington swept through the starting arch taking the accumulated mile total to the golden 3000 mark. And people kept running. Some students want to keep running on Friday lunch time to complete their marathons. Hopefully, this will remain a legacy of fit week. Exercise - running, jogging, dancing, spinning, swimming, cycling, rowing - in whatever form it takes, is cool. Staying fit is cool. So many people have run a marathon - too many to mention here. Many others have pushed themselves beyond expectation. That sense of achievement does not easily come from playing the Xbox. It might also be worth remembering that each lap run will have burned between 50 and 70 calories. That is a good 300 calories for half an hour (the equivalent of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast). Now that doesn't happen playing the Xbox either.
Big shout of the day goes to Lincoln's Alfie Chapman who was a blur, and not just because of the rain. He managed an astonishing 23 laps, or eleven and a half miles, in just over seventy minutes. A new 'Fit Week' record.
So, we are delighted we reached Somalia. Now we really want to help the children there. If you hussled for sponsorship, please do your best to collect it. If you promised sponsorship, please repay the hard work that has taken place.
And once again, a HUGE thank you to everybody who stood up and took part, demonstrating beyond doubt that Wymondham College is fit!
