BBC News Day

On Thursday 26th March fourteen pupils from Wymondham College joined up with around 500 schools across the UK making the news.

The pupils were taking part in BBC News School Report, a BBC project to engage young people in the news.

Ex-teacher and BBC News presenter, Huw Edwards, is lending his support to the project.

He says: “I'm involved because I want to give young people the chance to make the news themselves, and I want to share the principles of good journalism.”

Over the past few months the students have been working hard, training to be top journalists, carrying out interviews and producing reports.

English and Media Teacher, Mr Edwards said: ‘The students have worked really hard and come up with some great stories.'

The students broadcasting their news, covering the stories of the day as well as their special report on Social Network Websites as a teaching tool, the College’s ‘Fry Charity Fit Week’ and the curious behaviour of local sheep.

Participating student Alex enthused: ‘It’s been great fun, my favourite bit so far has been researching the stories and finding out the opinions of local people.’
