Special Needs

The Learning Support Department is situated in a bright and cheerful classroom.

We are well equipped with networked computers and up -to - date SEN software including the integrated learning system, Successmaker. We also have a wide range of current special needs resources

As well as for lessons the room is used for extra curricular activities such as VIth Form mentored reading; spelling; prep; catch up, EAL tutorials and individual assessment, target setting or reviewing with the Special Needs Co-ordinator. Support agency meetings take place here to enable multi-agency support for our students if necessary.

The Learning support staff.

The SENCO (Special Needs Co-ordinator) and 6 members of staff, some full time some part time, make up the learning support team.

The Learning Support team are experienced and approachable, providing dynamic and flexible support for students of all ages and difficulties throughout the school. They give individual help in the classroom and in small groups and help teachers by having a sound understanding of special needs and of the students that they support.
