Read-a-thon goings on!

On Monday 6th July 30 Year 7s took on the challenge to be involved in a read-a-thon from 9am-5pm in the Library.

They got involved in a huge range of activities with various English teachers. Miss Privett read them 'Magnificiant Mummies' before the students mummified one another and competed in a mummy race! Mrs Macullum had all the students complete 'The Reading Game' where they spent time exploring novels from different genres. Miss Terry read 'Captain Underpants' before getting the students to embark on designing superhero pants for all the staff (Mr Cope's Retro 70s Star Pants were a truely amazing creation!). Mr Trafford told the students a favourite tale from his childhood; Rudyard Kipling's 'The Elephant Child'. Mrs Foreman and Mr McMorran read from 'Daz and Zoe' by Robert Swindells and then helped the students write their own piece in dialect. Ms Jaggard had all the students acting out scenes from 'Frankenstein' which was a real faourite of the day! As well as all this we had hot chocolate with ghost stories, strawberries with comedy poems and chocolate whilst reading Joanne Harris' 'Chocolat'. A thoroughly enjoyable day - thank you to all staff and students involved.
