The English Department Spelling Bee was for all Year 7 students.
They all had 100 words from different subjects to learn. They were sponsored by friends and family for completing this challenge.
The money raised, so far £951.85, will be divided between the EACH children’s charity and the English Department for new electronic dictionaries.
Each Year 7 English Class had a spelling champion who was entered into the grand spell off! With all Year 7 watching the pressure was on the students.
Russell Ellis kept his cool in the speed round and narrowly escaped the fate of the bomb in the ‘pass the bomb’ round. In the final head to head against Tabitha Watson he was able to spell to victory and take the title of Wymondham College Spelling King 2009!
