1. GCE Applied Leisure Studies. (AQA)2. GCE Applied Information and Communication Technology. (EDEXCEL)3. GCE Applied Business Studies. (EDEXCEL)4. GCE Applied Health and Social Care. (EDEXCEL)Why Applied subjects? They target students who are particularly strong at coursework than examinations and qualify for UCAS points. Class sizes tend to be smaller thus a better teacher/pupil ratio. You will learn by physically doing it rather than just reading it - it is a practical and hands on experience. Applied subjects give students a wide choice of progression options into further study, training, or relevant criteria. What hands-on experiences do I get?Pending upon the Applied subject, students have an opportunity to participate in several field studies. Currently, those undertaking Applied Subjects visit Disneyland Resort Paris, Kettle Chips, Pizza hut, Next, Banham Zoo, and Breckland Leisure Centre to name but a few. These visits give an insight into how people work and how organisations run. These are then applied to coursework and exams.Students also have an opportunity to create and run their own event. These can range from a whole school fundraising Fashion Show to a Rugby and Football tournament to an 'It's a Knock out' style event. Other practical work that students undertaking Applied subjects complete include a working Health and Safety handbook for an organisation, designing spreadsheets and databases, creating and marketing a product, and investigating diseases.ProgressionStudents who successfully complete their A Levels more than often continue onto University and undertake degrees, BTEC Higher National Diplomas or NVQs. Some students have been well equipped to undertake relevant employment. Former Students that have successfully completed their Applied A Levels have moved onto the following:-. Event Management . BA (Hons) Leisure Studies . NatWest Bank Employment Programme For further information regarding Applied Subjects please contact either subject leaders or Mr. J.
