Kett

Find out about Kett

This unique boarding and day house has been 'Under New Management' since 2006. It is led by a youthful Head and Deputy Head of House who have aimed to create an exciting atmosphere and environment for all Kett students to thrive in. They are very ably supported by a team of Matrons and College staff, all of whom are dedicated to making Kett the very best of houses and making sure the students get the most out of their time here.

The house currently accommodates 100 boarders and 87 day students, who come from all over England as well as countries such as Hong Kong. Whether it be an academic or sporting achievement, the house ethos remains the same, "to promote teamwork and togetherness" in a safe and happy surrounding.

Did You Know? The House is named after Robert Kett, who led the peasants' rebellion over the loss of common, grazing land in 1549. A wealthy landowner from Wymondham, Kett sided with the ordinary people and, with 16,000 followers, marched on Norwich. His camp, which was organised and disciplined was finally defeated by the King's hired mercenaries after holding out for seven weeks.

Robert Kett appears to have been a genuinely good and decent man who was fighting for what he believed to be right, with no thought for his personal gain. A good example to follow!
